How it all began

Her origin

Anuarite originates from Democratic Republic of Congo but was raised in Uganda and then moved to Canada with her family in 2014. She has always had a passion for helping people since her childhood. Her successes can be attributed to her strong dedication to projects she has a personal connection to and through her ability to motivate others. Anuarite’s positivity can be seen through her constant smile, making her peers eager to help.

Her education

After completing her Personal Support Worker (PSW) course at Algonquin College, Ottawa, she decided to continue and go back to school to pursue a different program where she double majored in Office Administration Legal and Executive. She plans to continue her education to pursue a degree in Healthcare Administration. She has been working as a PSW for the past 6 years and has worked tirelessly during the whole pandemic in a long term care home in the city of Ottawa.

Her motivation

Anuarite is a survivor of rape, sexual abuse, physical abuse and verbal abuse growing up. She found healing and strength in the Living Word of God, strength that she now wants to extend to other youth like herself who have undergone and are still undergoing through this destructive struggle.

This is the leading force behind the creation of Nuru Hope Foundation, which she is the founder and CEO, with the sole mission is support boys and girls both in Uganda and Canada, who have gone through any kind of abuse and also providing them with vocational education, counselling to overcome the trauma.

Her Accomplishments

Her biggest accomplishments to date have been raising funds for a high school in Lesotho named Bokoro High School.

The help Lesotho organization in Ottawa was spearheading a project called the Lights On Campaign. High School students in Lesotho were failing since students were returning from school, performing chores until dark and then would have no light to study. The project involved raising money to buy rechargeable LED lights. The lights would charge while the students were in school and would provide light to enable studying after dark. Anuarite was able to handle this project and raised $400 which enabled at least 1200 homes to have lights to enable them to study.

She also participated in the 2020 UNHCR Canada Cook Book where she shared some of her Congolese food recipes, she is a board member of the Youth Of Ottawa community. In 2016 she got a shoutout from WE Canada for the recognition of her contribution to the community.
