1) Purpose & Scope

This policy applies to all Nuru Hope Foundation staff, volunteers, contractors, partners, and visitors. It covers our programs, communications, fundraising, and operations—online and offline.

2) Principles

• Do no harm and act in the best interests of the survivor/child.
• Zero tolerance for sexual exploitation, abuse, harassment (SEAH), or neglect.
• Non-discrimination and trauma-informed, survivor-centered practice.
• Confidentiality and data minimization in handling reports.
• Accountability with timely, fair, and safe procedures.

3) Code of Conduct (selected)

• No sexual activity or relationships with beneficiaries or anyone under 18.
• No exchange of money, employment, goods, or services for sex.
• No abuse (physical, emotional, verbal) or exploitation of any person.
• Keep professional boundaries; avoid being alone with a child where possible.
• Always obtain informed consent for images/stories; never share identifying info that puts someone at risk.

4) Safer Recruitment & Training

• Background/reference checks and signed acceptance of this policy.
• Mandatory safeguarding & PSEA training for staff and volunteers.
• Partner due diligence and contract clauses on safeguarding.

5) Reporting & Response

• Multiple safe channels to report concerns (in person, email, hotline where available).
• All staff must report any suspicion within 24 hours to the Safeguarding Focal Point.
• We prioritize immediate safety, medical care, and psychosocial support.
• Confidential assessments, documented actions, and referrals to appropriate authorities where safe and lawful.

6) Data Protection & Communications

• Use anonymization/pseudonyms for sensitive stories; obtain written consent for photos.
• Store case data securely with limited access and retention controls.
