Our Programs

Simple pillars. Real outcomes.

We focus on what we do best today—Post-Trauma Counselling, Education, and Vocational Training—kept lean and clear so people can quickly find help.

Program work

Post-Trauma Counselling (MHPSS)

We provide short-term, trauma-informed counselling so survivors can regain safety and agency. Our approach includes structured sessions that help reframe thoughts, feelings, and behaviors related to trauma.

  • Individual counselling and psychosocial support (MHPSS).
  • Case management & referrals; survivor-centered, confidential processes.
  • Community outreach for awareness and early help-seeking.
We list only services we currently provide, keeping descriptions accurate and clear.

Education

We help children in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement stay in school with uniforms, books, and other essentials, so they don’t fall behind. Students supported by NHF attend Itambabiniga Primary School and SDA Brain Trust Nursery & Primary School.

  • Back-to-school kits and exam prep support.
  • Attendance follow-up with families and teachers.
  • Transport and small barriers addressed case-by-case.

Vocational Training

Through periodic outreaches, girls and young women learn income-earning skills—most commonly tailoring— to stabilize families and build dignity.

  • Introductory sewing skills; safe practice space.
  • Basic business & savings habits with peer support.
  • Connections to local mentors where possible.
