We officially launched our Tailoring School Program—equipping youth and women with practical skills in sewing and design. Beyond training, this is a pathway to creativity, income, and dignity. The work continues, and your support can power more machines and materials.

On June 7, 2022, we opened the doors to our Tailoring School Program—a practical, hands-on space where youth and women learn sewing, pattern cutting, and basic design. For many participants, this is their first time operating a sewing machine, measuring a garment, or turning a paper pattern into a wearable piece. Each new stitch builds confidence.

What learners receive

  • Foundations of tailoring: machine operation, maintenance, safety, measurements, and finishing

  • Design basics: patterns, cutting techniques, and fabric selection

  • Income readiness: pricing, simple bookkeeping, customer care, and repairing/alterations for local demand

“I want to sew uniforms for children in my neighborhood. If I can earn from this, I can pay school fees for my sister.” — M, trainee

Why this matters

Tailoring is more than a trade—it's a pathway to financial independence and a platform for creativity. With steady practice and the right tools, participants can start micro-businesses, offer alterations, or collaborate with local markets. The program restores choice and dignity, one garment at a time.

We’re still building

The training is underway—but we need more sewing machines, fabrics, and tools to expand the class and reduce waitlists. Your support equips a trainee’s workstation and helps us keep the doors open for the next group.
